For dogs, however, even the smallest concentrations of the bacteria are dangerous. Even with veterinary treatment, the animals cannot be saved. In order to protect the health of dogs, the public health department reminds dog owners that dogs must be kept on a lead at Lake Hennesee anyway.
According to the health authority, there is currently no risk to people’s health when bathing at the bathing areas of Lake Henne as long as no large volumes of water are drunk. For this reason, young children should be particularly supervised, the authority emphasises. On Monday, 12 August, samples were taken on suspicion and the Hochsauerlandkreis will provide information on the results shortly.
